COM COUNSELING SERVICE FOR VETERANS

Students are encouraged to meet with counselors well in advance of registration.

For the initial meeting with the veterans’ counselor it is advised the student bring the following documents:

Completed COM – VA Packet (available at the COM Enrollment Services Office)

Veterans

  • Copy of DD Form 214 (veteran only)
  • VA Form 22-1990 (veteran’s initial application for VA educational benefits) OR ​Form 22-1995 (veteran’s transferring VA educational benefits from a prior college)

Dependents

  • VA Form 22-5490 (dependents initial application for VA educational benefits) OR VA Form 22-5495 (dependents transferring VA educational benefits from a prior college)

As you learn about your education benefits, keep in mind that each program offers different amounts of financial assistance and has differernt eligibility requirements. If your are eligible for more than one education benefit, choose the benefit that is right for you, because you cannot receive payment under more that one benefit program at a time.
