From Student Idea to Campus Experience
Coffee & Careers is more than a networking event. It is a student-inspired idea brought to life through the creativity, initiative, and vision of a College of Marin student.
The concept for Coffee & Careers was created by Meztli Mendieta as part of College of Marin’s Centennial Ideation Challenge, an initiative that invited students to propose innovative, impactful, and achievable ideas to improve student life, campus experiences, and connections with the Marin community.
Meztli Mendieta’s Coffee and Careers proposal earned second place in the Centennial Ideation Challenge. Her idea centered on creating opportunities for students to make meaningful connections with professionals and gain insight into career pathways and the world of work.
With support from the College community, that student-driven idea is now becoming a reality through Coffee & Careers: Explore Careers in Healthcare, where students can connect directly with healthcare professionals, faculty, and industry representatives, learn about different career and educational pathways, and begin building their professional networks.
Coffee & Careers reflects what can happen when student ideas are heard, supported, and given the opportunity to grow into experiences that benefit the broader College of Marin community.
